Kids and Cars
Kids and Cars is a nonprofit organization founded in 1996. They are dedicated to the prevention of injuries and death to children from non-traffic, non-crash events in and around automobiles. They collect accident statistics (government agencies only collect traffic related accident statistics), promote awareness about auto dangers particularly relating to children, advocate for protective legislation, and produce educational materials to inform the public. They have carefully collected on their web site a compendium of media reports about children and car safety particularly relating to backup safety issues, the hazards of power windows, and the danger of leaving children unattended in vehicles.
